Alex Pastrana
The award-winning Colombian pianist Alexander Pastrana Sotto started his musical career at the age of nine, and took his first Piano lessons at 13. He studied at Neiva’s Conservatory for two years followed by private lessons with Jorge Guarin, Former Member of Fruko y sus Tesos Band.
In 2010, he decided to travel to Bogota to continue his musical studies. He studied classical music with Piano Master Andres Linero Branly at Colombian Incca University and in 2011 he got into the Jazz Program at Javeriana University where he studied with the well-known Masters Ricardo Uribe and Holman Alvarez.
Alex Pastrana has played with Samuel Torres, prominent bassist for Paquito D’ Rivera and Berkeley’s Latino Director Oscar Stagnaro, Bogota Big Band (2018-2019) Zaperoco group, Mario Criales Power Trio, in addition, he has collaborated in accompaniment with artists such as Il Divo Quartet, Henry Fiol, Luis Enrique, Mickey Taveras, Alina Vargas, Charlie Cardona, La Billo’s Caracas Boys, Osvaldo Roman (Puerto Rican Power), Anthony Colon, Johnny Rivera, Los Alfa 8, Juancho Torres and his Orchestra, Yolanda Rayo, Natalia Bedoya and her Martinie Blues, Lucho Bermudez Orchestra, Fanny Lu, Hansel Camacho, Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogota, Toño Barrio, Maria Escobar, Chabuco, los Cumbieros Carlos Vives, Among others.
